How to properly store mussels: place immediately in fridge and cover with a damp towel. Do not allow to sit in standing water. Avoid rough handling. They’ll stay optimally fresh 7-10 days from harvest for cooked consumption.
How to properly clean mussels: give them a fresh water rinse and remove any leftover beards (stringy substance on outside of shell) prior to cooking.
How to properly enjoy mussels: anyway you want! Steamed, grilled, or baked are popular methods. Prior to cooking, discard any mussels that don’t close when tapped. Discard any mussels that don’t open after cooking.
